The old accordionists who used to tell their stories with songs are disappearing. This film registers the origins of the music that nowadays we call Vallenata in the Tamboras and Cantos de Vaquería to end up with the new expressions and the new crowning of the new king of the festival of 1985, that takes place in Valledupar. The documentary also includes testimonies of the composers, specially the one by Leandro Díaz, who narrates how he composed the song "Diosa Coronada" (Crowned Queen), a vallenato song that was also the epigraph of the novel by Gabriel García Márquez: "El amor en los tiempos del cólera".
